Creamy Tomato Basil Pasta

1 lb Pasta (penne or rigatoni)

2 tbsp Olive oil

4 cloves Garlic, minced

28 oz can Crushed tomatoes

1/2 cup Heavy cream

1/4 cup Fresh basil, chopped

1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

1 tsp Salt

1/2 tsp Black pepper
-
1/4 tsp Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente.
- While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until sauce is creamy.
- Drain pasta, reserving 1 cup of pasta water.
- Add cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat. Add pasta water as needed to reach desired consistency.
- Remove from heat and stir in fresh basil and half of the Parmesan cheese.
- Serve immediately, topped with remaining Parmesan cheese and extra basil.
